Products, platforms, and funds are continually being developed and improved upon, some of the features we look for in a good advanced platform are as follows.

• Investment Choice

There has to a wide investment choice not only across asset types but also across investment styles and investment managers. The platform is not good if it has a 100 investment chocies but they are all done by the same manager, this forms part of our Diversity by Design concept.

• Insurance Providers

A platform having more than one is always a good thing we look for, not every one is a round peg trying to fit into a square hole.

• Direct Local Shares

This feature adds a whole new level to a platform being able to buy direct shares in your favourite companies, however to what extent can you buy ASX 100, 200, 300, or unlimited?

• Communication

Without good effective communication the platform is usless, this covers the design and access to statements, website, and call centre.

• Cost

Cost is important but not the answer, value for the money you pay is the primary focus.
